5th Annual Kenshokan Iaido

Koryu Seminar (Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu)

October 29 and 30, 2016

All Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu practitioners are invited to this two-day seminar focused on MJER Iaido.  The last four seminars were each a great success, so we wanted to do it all over again in order to offer iaidoka intensive training with some of the top Canadian instructors in our koryu.

Our instructors for the seminar will be Goyo Ohmi-sensei (Kyoshi, 7D) and Kim Taylor-sensei (Renshi, 7D), and Carole Galligan (Renshi, 6D).

Please see details, below, and keep checking back to this page for updates as we draw closer to the event!

Riverview Park and Zoo: Our beautiful FREE zoo has some great animal displays, including a new-ish otter exhibit; fantastic features for kids, including multiple playgrounds, an 80 foot superslide running from the zoo down to the river valley, and a splash park, picnic areas, and Frisbee golf.  http://www.peterboroughutilities.ca/Park_and_Zoo/Features_and_Attractions.htm

Canadian Canoe Museum:  The largest collection of its kind, the Canoe Museum boasts almost 600 canoes and kayaks and over 1000 related artifacts in interactive exhibits.  You can experience the exhibits, see canoes being built and restored, and even take part in an artisan's workshop.  http://www.canoemuseum.ca/

Peterborough Lift Locks:  This structure, completed in 1904, is the tallest hydraulic lift lock in the world, raising and lowering watercraft 65 feet from one level of the Trent-Severn Waterway to another with no other power, only the brilliant use of gravity and counterbalance!   There is a visitors' centre, tours, and cruises.
